Produced in the Casentinesi Forest National Park, the Fir Honeydew is a sweet substance produced by small insects (aphids, leafhoppers, cochineal), which feed on a large quantity of sap from trees and secrete honeydew, a substance rich in nutritive elements and mineral salts. The bees collect the honeydew and turn it into honey thanks to the enzymes they produce. The honey then remains to mature in the honeycombs of the hive.

Dark in color, with scents and palate, it resembles fir resin, barley malt with a smoky tinge. It is of medium sweetness therefore with a reduced sugar content, particularly suitable for those who want to reduce the intake of sugars in the diet.

This product, like nectar honey, is a powerful antibacterial and lung antiseptic suitable for calming bronchitis, tracheitis and perfect for colds or flu. Inside it is then possible to find polyphenols and other antioxidants. Compared to nectar honey, honeydew honey is even richer in mineral salts such as iron, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese and potassium making it suitable for athletes. It tends not to crystallize.
